Sinisa Mihajlovic was recently given a vote of confidence by AC Milan, as he has struggled to turn around the fortunes of the Italian club as far as domestic form is concerned.
Milan have gone far beyond the top levels of football. They are no longer competing for the best when it comes to the title or the players. Keen to turnaround the situation, owner Silvio Berlusconi is intent on bringing some remarkable changes over the next few years. Unlike in the past, Berlusconi has put a lot of money into the club in the last 12 months.
This has helped them sign players like Mario Balotelli, who has been disappointing at his previous clubs like Manchester City and Liverpool. However, his record in Italian football is actually pretty decent and his presence was expected to help Milan get back into the top three. This has not been the case since Milan are just about the 10th spot with more than half way through the season. However, there is positivity for the club in the form of the Coppa Italia. A 1-0 win against Alessandria puts them in a strong position going into the second leg of the semifinals. Prior to the game,Mihajlovic spoke about the importance of a win in this competition.
"Our aim though is to qualify for the final of the competition and to try and lift the trophy. If you win silverware, a season can be considered a positive one.Thinking it is going to be easy, however, is the easiest way to end up giving a poor account of ourselves. Alessandria deserve to be shown respect and I am happy for their coach. I am treating Alessandria like a Serie A team and I will select a competitive side for the match,” said the Milan manager.
