PSG have reportedly contacted reached out to AC Milan regarding the services of Pepe Reina. The Ligue 1 current champs are hoping to make the former Liverpool shot stopper the back up to KeylorNavas.
The 20-year old Marcin Bulka is rated in the market, but PSG feel he is not yet worthy of being second choice. Hence, the need to sign Reina from AC Milan. The youngster has a deal until the summer of next year, but PSG are expected to retain him as the long-term plan for second choice goalkeeper behind Navas.
PSG Sporting Director Leonardo wants Reina as he is cost effective, with only a year left on his contract with Milan. AC Milan are also looking to offload him as his wages total three million euros per annum.
The tricky thing is AC Milan are prioritizing offloading Gianlugi Donnarumma this summer. The Italian goalkeeper has just a year left on his deal and is not keen on extending it. If they can sell of Donnarumma then they can keep Reina as first choice goalkeeper for the next season while they strategize on the best long-termchoice after the 37-year old Reina.
PSG had already sent Alphonse Areola, 27, to Real Madrid on loan. The Spanish side are keen on retaining his services as backup to Thibaut Courtois. Areola is open to a huge pay cut from his 150k euros a week deal at PSG to get some playing time at the Bernabeu. PSG is left with trying to convince their loaneeto rather join Milan when Donnarumma exits so they can immediately have Reina.
