MILAN REIGNITE INTEREST IN ATLETICO MADRID STAR

Italian Serie A giants AC Milan have revived their interest and will return to make a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, as per multiple reports. The Milan giants have set the midfield position as a place of priority to continue their squad improvement, and they will reportedly do everything they can to convince the midfield star to move to Italy.

This is not the first time the midfielder will be linked to Milan, as he came under the club’s radar in the summer transfer window of 2015 when the club courted him but failed to land him. As at then, he was worth a staggering £40 million but having seen his career dipped in the last years, that figure is expected to drop significantly.

Kondogbia was playing for French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco back in 2015 when he was first linked with a move to Milan, but neither the player nor the club showed interest in starting negotiation talks with the French club. He then chose to sign for the other Milan club, Internazionale.

He penned a 5-year deal at Inter and the club announced on their official website that they had struck a deal with Monaco for the midfielder’s transfer. However, they were able to convince the French side to lower their asking price to £31 million, the amount they eventually paid to sign the player.

Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb is now reporting that the move that broke down six years ago could now return to the tracks and could finally possibly happen in this coming transfer window. Kondogbia’s career journey has seen him move to Spain recently, signing for Atletico Madrid. But having been told he is no longer part of Diego Simeone’s plans, AC Milan want to capitalize on the situation and finally get their man this summer.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return to the starting lineup means Milan manager Stefano Pioli has more firepower in attack and would be pleased with that welcoming piece of news. The big Swede will be joined by Hakan Calhanoglu in the returnees list as both players would be looking to play a big part in helping the Milan outfit advance to the next stage of the UEFA Europa League.

Bennacer is also expected to return to the team after missing out in action the last time out. While Pioli would be glad that he will be welcoming back some key players for the crunch tie against the visitors who will be coming from England, he would also be concerned about the availability of some other stars including Romagnoli, Rebic, Calabria, and Leao whose fitness levels will be assessed again before the final team sheet is prepared.

In defence, even though Romagnoli is finally given the green light to feature alongside his teammates on the pitch, the captain is, according to MilanNews, expected to not be thrown into the fray and handed a rest so his injury does not get worse. His absence will see Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori get the nod at the back, leading the central defense alongside Simon Kjaer.

Gianluigi is, of course, the undisputed favorite between the sticks except if he picks up a knock during the team’s final training session ahead of the match. Manchester United’s loaned-out right-back Diogo Dalot will be the most likely preferred option on the right flank for the home side, while Theo Hernandez is expected to boss the opposite side.

Frank Kessie will retain his place in midfield after his impressive outing at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture last week. Meite will most likely partner Kessie and the duo may be joined by Calhanoglu, Krunic, and Saelemaekers.

The transfer window is currently closed for business but that does not stop rumors and transfer-related conversations from making the rounds. Although there can’t be any transfers for now until the summer, it is an opportunity for managers to continue the search for their transfer targets whether they want to spend big or not.

One of such managers is Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel. The manager, having replaced the sacked Frank Lampard, joined a club that is already filled with raw talents and footballing stars. However, just like every other manager before him, and the ones that will come after, he is expected to still make his additions.

IBRAHIMOVIC TO LEAVE MILAN THIS SUMMER

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to exit AC Milan this summer, per reports in Italy. The former Sweden international joined in January but he has only managed to score four goals after 11 matches. His return to Italy has not yielded the expected returns. Despite rumours of a new one-year deal, the club has opted not to move forward with the player.

Ibrahimovic would now move to Swedish outfit Hammarby when his current deal with Milan lapses by the end of August. The club would appreciate the exposure from Ibra joining and would accommodate the star player until he retires.

PSG WANT PEPE REINA

PSG have reportedly contacted reached out to AC Milan regarding the services of Pepe Reina. The Ligue 1 current champs are hoping to make the former Liverpool shot stopper the back up to KeylorNavas.

The Paris based club is satisfied with the performance of Navas since his move from Real Madrid. The club opted not to activate the buy option in the deal with Sevilla for Sergio Rico. They feel he does not meet their long-term interest, especially as he would not come cheap, costing 10 million euros based on the loan package with the La Liga side. MILAN WANT LIVERPOOL DEFENDER

AC Milan have registered an interest in signing Dejan Lovren from Liverpool. The defender is out of favour at Anfield. He is struggling for game time. He is behind Joel Matip and Virgil Van Dijk in the pecking order and most recently Joe Gomez has been chosen ahead of him. AC Milan who have endured a poor season by their own standard has identified the player as an ideal candidate to help their defense next season.

Liverpool have enjoyed consistency this season, the partnership of Van Dijk and Joel Matip has taken them to the top of the league. They have been unbeaten all through the season till recently, when they collapsed against Watford. The loss against Nigel Pearson’s side is their only loss of the season. They have opened a 25 points Gap against closest rival Manchester City. They are on course to win their first league title in three decades. The Croatian international has enjoyed little minutes this season as Jurgen Klopp doesn’t want to alter a good defensive unit.

Looking up the SerieA league table to see Inter Milan challenging Juventus for the title is a hard pill for AC Milan to swallow. The Rossoneri judging by the team of youngsters they were putting together felt this was going to be their season.

The disappointments faced so far is now compelling them to look for more recruits. James-Clair Todibo and Erling Haaland are believed to be their top priority.
Milan faces Atalanta on Sunday and chances are they will come out of that match empty handed therefore worsening their chances of even qualifying for the Europa League next season.

Khan was a warrior. Caesar was a politician. Caesar died same way politicians die – usually how they get there – by treachery and betrayal. Khan died a warrior. People have alternate histories as to how he actually died but it comes down to two routes: either he died peacefully on his bed or he died in the battlefield roaring into the great beyond.
