AC Milan are actively looking to sign a new centre back in this January transfer window as they have finally decided to address the depth issue in that area of the field. Several media outlets have reported their quest to sign at least one central defender in the current window. AC Milan are having a fine season that could end with a first league title in a decade. The Rossoneri have a three-point lead over city rivals Inter Milan on the league table after 17 games. Inter Milan are the closest team to AC Milan at the summit.
Italian transfer news platform Tuttomercatoweb (TMW) has reported on the centre back targets for AC Milan since the January transfer window. The latest report from the platform has revealed the four-man shortlist of centre back targets made by club officials. Here are the four targets:
1. Mohamed Simakan –The Strasbourg player is at the top of the list as he fits the exact profile of the player wanted at the club. His French club will likely ask for €20m for the defender but AC Milan are confident that they will sign him for a discounted transfer fee especially after his injury last weekend. The injury will keep him off the field until March at the earliest. The 20-year-old has almost 50 appearances at senior level.
2. Ozan Kabak – The Schalke 04 player is regarded as one of the best defensive prospects and he has been linked with a lot of the big clubs in Europe especially Liverpool. The Turkish international was at Galatasaray in his native Turkey before he left to join German club VfB Stuttgart before finally ending up at his present club.
3. Loic Bade – The Lens defender is another player on the AC Milan shortlist in their bid to sign a new centre back this month.
4. Fikayo Tomori – He has been on the fringes of the Chelsea squad this season and he's keen to leave this month. The Nigerian-born England international has also been linked with Premier League teams like Everton and Leeds United.
